In today’s YouTube-world, having a video camera is about more than saving memories. It’s a form of expression and communication—a way to quickly connect people and experiences. Pure Digital Technologies designs and manufacturers consumer-friendly video camcorders and software to capture and share life’s spontaneous moments. The answer was a reinvention of the brand as a lifestyle accessory—far more than just a way to record videos.
Pure Digital launched a new line of camcorders, named the Flip, that were simple-to-use and made video-sharing easy. To announce the launch, Native Instinct re-designed their Web site to make it lifestyle oriented. To make it engaging and emphasize the value of motion, we added animation and video throughout the site. We also created a Flip.com page on Facebook to build a sense of community, create awareness, and provide users with an easy and fun way to share their spontaneous moments.
We also built an online store that enabled consumers to purchase camcorders and accessories directly from Pure Digital. For an encore, and for the ultimate personal expression, we also designed and developed, along with Pure Digital and CafePress, an online store feature that allows purchasers to add custom-printed images to their Flip Mino using their own photos or selecting from a library of user-created designs. In less than two years, over 2 million flip camcorders have been sold. The Flip's runaway success led to Pure Digital's acquisition by Cisco in 2009, and we continue to innovate with our friends at the Flip every day.
