Behind the Scenes: Our New Web Site
Native Instinct has launched this new Web site at www.native-instinct.com to show off the wide range of clients that we have made successful. When we went through the redesign of our own Web site, we made sure that we followed the advice that we give our clients every day. We thought it might be valuable for us to share some of the secrets that led to the design of this site you see now. Every Web site's purpose and audience is different. But if you choose to work with us, these are the kinds of things you will hear about:
- Customer oriented: Visitors who come to our Web site have a problem. They have a business problem, and they are looking for an interactive agency that can help them. They're not so interested in hearing about how great we are (although we are great), but they want to know how we can help them. So our site is oriented around the success we've brought to our clients, and the benefits that our clients will experience when they hire Native Instinct.
- Tell the story quickly: The first time you come to our home page, we only have a few seconds to capture your attention before you move on the next thing. So we used several short videos on our home page to "wow" you, and then hope you hang around to see more.
- Easy-to-update: Because we're adding new clients all the time, we wanted a site that our project managers and marketing team could update, without having to bother our tech staff, who always seems to be busy with "client work." So we built our site using Drupal, an open source content management system (CMS) that is the perfect tool for managing a lot of content (our clients work), presenting it in a similar manner, and cross linking.
- SEO compatible: We want great companies to find us. So we've built the entire site with Search Engine Optimization in mind. We've highlighted our key capabilities (User Experience Design, Drupal Development, etc.) with clear wording and consistent use throughout the site. This means that when search engines crawl our site, they know that these are the key words they should remember. And when users search for "ecommerce web design in sf bay area", (go ahead, try it!) we show up in the top 7 organic results, no easy feat given the plethora of Web design firms in San Francisco.
These are just some of the considerations we used when designing and building the site. To learn more, give us a call at (415) 543-1500 or contact us online.
